“I am extremely thankful for the time that I spent working with STEM Tutoring and count it as one of the most meaningful jobs I've ever had.”

—Richie, Taylor University

“I felt like (STEM Tutoring) gave me the perfect stepping off point to actually make a difference in kids’ lives. Logistically, the pay is competitive and the hours are flexible enough that I could fit tutoring into my schedule while working 2 other jobs. Cindy (STEM's owner) understands how much extra time tutors need to give in order to be good at their jobs and makes sure that we are fairly compensated for all of our effort. This has been one of the most rewarding employment experiences I have participated in and I am truly grateful to have worked at STEM.”

This program is great because in addition to teaching content, you are encouraged to build a relationship with each student. In fact, socioemotional learning is a highlight of this tutoring program. Because of this, you become more than just a tutor and become someone who empowers your student, which for me has made tutoring more meaningful. Cindy realizes that the commitment to achieve all this is on the higher end and offers a competitive salary that makes the extra engagement a win win. As far as scheduling, you are able to control what times you’re available and how many hours you’d like to work as well. This is a great teaching opportunity and even though I am a busy senior at UW, the time I set aside to tutor is well worth it.
